Leonel Morales-Herrero

Pianist

(Madrid – Spain. 1995)

He studied in the Conservatory of Music of Castellón and at present he continues his studies at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at the University Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid under the direction of his father and teacher Leonel Morales.

First Prize in the “Lyon International Piano Competition” (2016. France). Also he obtained First Prizes in the “International Piano Competition MozaARTe” (2016. Germany), “César Franck” (2015. Brussels), “Marisa Montiel” (2013. Jaén-Linares) and Special Prize for the Musicality, “Xátiva” (2012. Valencia), “Santa Cecilia” (2010. Segovia), “Antón García Abril” (2009. Teruel) and “Hazen” (2009. Madrid).

In 2015, in a short lapse of time, he obtained the maximum award in three Competition of Piano celebrated in Valencia-Spain: International Competition Ciutat de Llíria (22 of March), Citutat de Carlet (2 of May 2), and Gabriel Teruel Machí of Benidomo (9 of May). And the 15 of May, also won the “Marisa Montiel” Competition in Linares-Jaén.

Second Prizes in the International ClaviCologne Aachen Competition (2015-Germany), International Piano Talents in Milan (2015. Italy) “Infanta Cristina” Piano Competition (2012. Madrid). In this competition he also won the Special Prize Steinway & Sons for represent Spain in the International Piano Festival of Hamburg in the Groben Saal der Laeiszhalle. Diploma in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition (2012. USA).

Third Prizes in the International Piano Competitions “Frechilla Zuloaga” (2013. Valladolid-Spain) and two time consecutives in the “A. Scriabin” (2014 and 2015. Italy), plus the “Audience Spacial Award”.

He obtained 2 Prizes in the Parnassós International Piano Competition – México-Monterrey in 2014:
“The Grand Honor Prize” because of the high level of his interpretation and “Prize to the best Interpretation of Impressionistic Music”

He has received Masterclasses given by Leonel Morales in diverse parts of the world, including in the Mozarteum of Salzburg. Also he has received Masterclass by: V. Balzani, B. Berman, P. Reach, I. Scheps, S. Mauser, Y. Didenko, G. Mazzoccante, P. Gililov, A. Bonatta, J. Rouvier, A. Zenziper and A. Frölich.

When he was 15 years old he performed for the first time in Adana – Turkey, the 1st Concert of Prokofiev with the “Cukurova State Symphony Orchestra” under the direction of the conductor Emin Güven Yasliçam. Obtaining a great success he was invited again to Antalya to perform the 1st Concert of Tchaikovsky. Also he played the 4th Concert of Beethoven under the direction of the conductor Giussepe Mancini in Madrid in the Auditorium “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Las Rozas and in the Palau of the Music in Valencia (Iturbi Concert Hall) under the direction of the conductor Sergio Furió.

He performed in diverse places and concert halls in Germany, Holland, Paris, Slovenia, Salzburg including at the Wiener Saal and Mexico in the important Festival Santa Cecilia-Parnassós Monterrey. In Italy Taurisano, Varallo and Mantova in the prestigious auditory “Teatro Bibiena”.

In Spain, he performed for the Foundation Yehudi Menuhin in the presence of her Majesty Queen Sofía, March Foundation, “Olivar del Castillejo” Foundation, “Juventudes Musicales” of Sevilla, Granada in different concert halls including the Auditorium fo Manuel de Falla, Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, Palau de la Música of Valencia, Auditorium of Castellón, Auditorium of Zaragoza…

He has premiered various Spanish composers as Juan Medina, David Azagra and “Tres Piezas Alejandrinas” of the Maestro Antón García Abril, getting a big triumph. García Abril dedicated to his brother and him one work for two pianos “Homenaje a Copérnico”.

He is Professor at the “International Piano Course for Children & Teenagers” and Assistant at the “International Masterclass and Piano Festival Leonel Morales”.
